Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its air defences. The first three manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Attack on the Capital Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” after six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in the capital just after midnight on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. The deceased had been at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest After Diplomatic Compound Destruction

Azerbaijan announced it issued a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. An explosion from a Moscow's missile destroyed a section of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in significant destruction to the embassy grounds, officials from Baku reported. There were no personnel injured, and a ministry spokesperson said the Kyiv embassy was maintaining operations.

Moscow's Aerial Bomb Production Sees Significant Increase

Russia intends to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, including 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Moscow's military were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s daily average standing at approximately 170, based on official military statistics.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck a processing plant in the Saratov area and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

Global Sanctions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets following recent restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
