The Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he added.
Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
