Performer Refutes Anti-Vax Position Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Covid Film
The acclaimed actor has provided his narration to a new documentary that casts doubt on the safety of immunizations and commends one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Disputed Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a popular book co-authored by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for allegations that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the influenza shot.
The book's co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. He wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for the actor have provided a comment strongly denying claims that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Many understand that corruption might be present within the drug industry, but that cannot be conflated with being against vaccines," the comment explains. "Liam is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His considerable work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
It noted that the performer did not shape the documentary's narrative and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the creators.
Major Themes Within the Documentary
In the film, the script read by Neeson features several controversial statements:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It posits that "research has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is featured claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- It also criticizes stay-at-home orders, saying they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning Covid vaccines, it mentions a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Background and Ongoing Disputes
The documentary further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a formal apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, Kennedy instructed the national health agency to revise its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is repeated in the documentary, even with a new report from the global health body confirming no evidence has been found.
A Previous Position of Support
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has previously expressed strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
The documentary concludes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. Rather, it is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
