Devoted supporters of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who breached a barricade and seized the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral video reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Several supporters also questioned event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual version of the popular stage production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
